1860 USCG Light Station
Renovation Website


The 1860 Light Station & Museum is at 311 Johnson Street in Port Washington atop St. Mary's Hill. It has been restored and serves as a museum depicting the life of a light keep family in the 19th century. Visitors tour the living quarters and the light tower that includes a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. The former generator room has additional museum exhibits that feature historic Port Washington artifacts.

Museum season is from May through October with the hours:

Friday 12:00 - 4:00
Saturday 11:00 - 4:00
Sundays 12:00 - 4:00

Admission: $4 adult, $1 children Special tours: $5 adult, $2 children Children 6 years of age and younger are not allowed to climb to the tower.

Please, no flip-flops, backless shoes or skirts when climbing the tower ladder.
